Expanding literacy access in Seattle
Reading Partners joined the Seattle educational landscape in 2014, when we first began placing community volunteers in Title 1 schools to help students master fundamental reading skills. Our one-on-one tutoring model empowers students to succeed in reading and in life by engaging community volunteers to provide individualizedattention to each student in our program.

āIn the beginning of my tutoring experience, my student often said āThis is hard!ā I would reply to him, āIt IS hard, but you can do hard things!ā Last week, after six months of time together, at the end of the lesson, he picked up a book to take home, looked at it, and said, āThis looks hard, but Iām going to take it, because I can do hard things!ā My heart about broke open!ā
